East Coast to Modern Colorado Home
Facing the reality of a world made smaller by the ongoing pandemic, the homeowners reimagined how they wanted to be living; deeply connected to each other, their cherished family, and to the earth. They longed for space and beauty within themselves, their homes, and their larger surroundings. With that clarity, they bravely moved to Northern Colorado.
The architecture of the home provided a modern foundation to layer a colorful, modern aesthetic.
In this first phase, we worked with a few pieces purchased from the previous homeowners that captured the artistic vision. In the living room, the scene was set with an iconic light fixture that was tailored for the sloped ceiling. The rug was chosen to give an origin point for the orange accent chairs and the olive green/walnut frame sofa. The wood coffee table, with its diagonal leg base, adds warmth and visual interest to the space.
The open dining room, showcased in front of the windows to the courtyard, grounds the modern aesthetic with earth elements like the modern plinth table base in raw dark metal and the beautiful walnut wood slab top. The homeowners love to entertain so we wrapped the table in modern, comfortable chairs.
Finally, we set the small breakfast alcove with a Saarinen marble-topped bistro table, a classic midcentury modern Eames dining chair, and an upholstered, low-profile bench so there was nothing blocking the beautiful mountains out the window.
All of this together meant that a smaller world could feel quite large indeed!
